Sometimes God doesn’t give us a long runway. Sometimes He just says to go vertical in faith.
It was supposed to be a relaxing Easter weekend. I was finally ready to rest—paint, unwind, and take a moment for myself. Then came two phone calls that would forever shift my soul. The first was joy-filled: my son called to tell me how God was working in his life. He was grateful. Emotional. Spiritually alive. It was one of those rare moments a mom lives for.
But hours later, the second call dropped like a bomb. His daughter—my granddaughter—had been in a head-on collision. Critical condition. Surgery pending. Chaos. The kind of news that drains every drop of oxygen from your lungs.
This blog is for the woman who feels like she’s run out of options. For the one stuck on the tarmac of grief, confusion or fear. I’m here to tell you: God is calling you to go vertical in faith.
When the Runway Ends, It’s Time to Rise

As I sat on the plane, heart pounding and unsure what I was flying into, I asked God the only question that made sense: “What do You want me to do?” And in His soft but unmistakable voice, He said, “You’ve run out of runway. It’s time to go vertical.”
That phrase hit my spirit hard. It wasn’t just about the situation—it was about my life. About the mission He gave me years ago that I hadn’t fully stepped into. And He said something that arrested me:
“Obedience is about speed. Delay turns into disobedience.”
Yes, I had been moving—but slowly. Rationally. Logically. From my left brain. And God was inviting me into something deeper. Something spirit-led, faith-fueled, and action-driven.
He was asking me to go vertical in faith.
The God Force Is Greater Than the Grief
In that hospital room, I didn’t just show up as a nurse or a grandma—I stepped into the God force. My granddaughter, broken and bruised from head to toe, was clinging to consciousness. My son—her father—was trying to hold it together. And in that moment, God reminded me: when you co-labor with Him, you bring heaven into chaos.
We prayed. We cleared the spiritual air in the room. Her vitals began to stabilize. The anxiety lifted. My son, once emotionally paralyzed, stepped into his divine authority as a father. And I got to witness the miracle—not just of healing—but of purpose being reborn in crisis.
Don’t Let Delay Become Disobedience
Let’s be honest. How many of us have delayed something God has clearly called us to do?
We say we’re waiting for the right time. For clarity. For confirmation. But in reality, we’re often just afraid. And fear wears a lot of disguises—like overthinking, perfectionism, and even busyness. But God isn’t looking for perfect plans—He’s looking for willing hearts.
You don’t need a longer runway. You need a vertical launch.
That’s what this story is about. Not just about trauma and recovery. But about how God can use even the darkest moments to awaken us to His calling. And if you’re reading this, maybe this is your moment too.
Your Invitation to Rise Up
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to move forward in your calling, this is it.
God is faithful. He shows up in hospital rooms, in plane rides, in whispered prayers and late-night tears. But He also calls us to action. Not later. Not someday. Now.
So ask yourself:
- What am I delaying that God has asked me to do?
- Where am I waiting when He’s saying, Go?
- Am I reasoning myself into disobedience?
Friend, it’s time. Go vertical. Rise above the noise. Your obedience isn’t just about your journey—it might just change someone else’s life too.
